...delayed post today because Nick and I were up early (well, early by my standards) for the Farmer's Market.







...I've been looking forward to potato buttermilk donuts and coffee since the Farmer's Market opened for the season...







...yummm, hot & spicy cheese bread. We finished half of it by the time we left...







...I was tempted to buy some hanging plants for our balcony, but decided against it since plants don't last very long in our apartment...







...I'm standing in front of the Capitol Vegetable Garden. Instead of flowers, they are growing herbs and vegetables for a local food pantry. What a great idea!...







...hope everyone is having a great Saturday!...

...every year Nick and I attend 'Festa Italia' which is hosted practically in our backyard at McKee Farms Park. Our little suburb of Fitchburg usually doesn't have much going on, but we can always count on 'Fitchburg Days' and 'Festa Italia' to sate our appetite for carnivals and greasy food.







...it was a beautiful day to be outside (wish we could have brought Zuzu with us!)...







...the food was messy, but it was delicious. It took a lot of energy and concentration to not get food on my silk romper (the wind did not help)...







...the little carnival was a sad, sad sight. I don't dare get on any of the rides, but the colorful stands make for a good picture...

...yikes, Friday already?! I love short weeks, but there's still so much to do yet! This weekend: Farmer's Market (potato donuts and coffee, yumm!) and thoroughly enjoy the outdoors and beautiful weather.

...made with vegetables and herbs from my dad's garden...







...the morning Nick and I left San Antonio, my dad handed me a wrapped bundle of vegetables from his garden that included zucchini, Thai basil, and Chinese string beans. It was very touching that after 4 days of non-stop preparation for my sister's wedding with very, very little sleep (and at five in the morning) - he hadn't forgotten about his other daughter...







...we used lots and lots of Thai chili peppers crushed with garlic and a little salt in the mortar and pestle Nick gave me a few Christmases ago...







...everything was fried together with some seasoned soy sauce and other spices. I don't use a recipe, so the final product always taste a little different every time...







...I garnished the plate with some Thai basil. I'm a cilantro and basil girl, so either one of these herbs (or both) in any dish makes it wonderful...
